A Summer of Music: Masterclasses, Summer School, and International Competition Organized by the “Pianova” Music School

This summer in Doboj was marked by music and young talents. Organized by the “Pianova” Music School, masterclasses, a summer school, and an international online competition brought together students and professors from different European countries.

Throughout July and August, participants had the opportunity to work with distinguished professors from music academies, including Sho Akamatsu, Ivana Duvnjak – Akamatsu, Ivan Otašević, Dejan Janković, Vojislav Ivanović, Lorenzo Bovittuti, and many others. The masterclasses were held both in-person at the school’s facilities and online, making it possible for students who could not attend physically to still take part.

International Online Competition

A special highlight of the program was the international online competition, which took place in July and gathered participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Italy, North Macedonia, Serbia, Bulgaria, and other countries. Competitors performed in a wide range of categories – from the youngest in the so-called “baby” category, through nine age categories, all the way to the open category, where candidates without formal music education could apply and present a program of their own choice.

Final Concert

The program concluded with a Award-Winning Ceremony, featuring both competition participants and masterclass students. It was a moment when all the talented young musicians had the opportunity to showcase their instrumental skills before an audience. The concert crowned the entire summer experience and confirmed the importance of such events for the artistic growth of young performers.

The Importance of the Pianova-Academy Platform

What makes these programs truly special is that their spirit continues even after the summer, through the Pianova-Academy platform. This online platform enables musicians of all ages to learn instruments and refine their skills with outstanding professors, such as those who led the masterclasses.

The platform opens doors to collaborations that are often not possible within a single country – students from different parts of the world can work with professors whose expertise would otherwise be unavailable to them. In this way, learning, progress, and enjoyment become the primary goals of the Pianova-Academy community, which not only connects musicians but also lays the foundation for their further artistic journey.

An Investment in the Future

The summer school, masterclasses, and competition are not just events that mark one season. They represent an investment in the future of young artists. Encounters with professors of different pedagogical schools and styles open new horizons, while connecting with peers from other countries builds networks that may serve as a foundation for future collaborations and careers.

In this way, through its programs and platform, Pianova contributes not only to the local music scene but also to the international exchange of knowledge and artistic experience.

OnStage Project – A New Opportunity for Young Musicians

This summer, the Pianova Music School launched another important initiative designed to give young musicians more opportunities to perform and grow – OnStage. This project is envisioned as a special platform within the school and on its website, where articles and blog posts will be published about the concerts of our students, competition participants, and summer school attendees.

What makes OnStage unique is its openness. Every concert organized by Pianova is open to all participants of our previous projects – whether they took part in summer schools, masterclasses, or competitions. In this way, young musicians are given continuous opportunities to showcase their skills, gain stage experience, and expand their musical networks.

A particularly exciting aspect of the project is the possibility of solo recitals. If a participant wishes to hold their first independent concert, Pianova will provide full support by organizing the recital in our facilities. This makes OnStage more than just a project – it becomes a springboard for building confidence and developing the professional skills of every young musician.

The concert activities within OnStage are not limited to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Pianova also plans performances across the wider region, creating space for promoting young talents, exchanging experiences, and forming new connections.

OnStage is, at its core, a blend of music, community, and opportunity – a platform through which talented young artists connect, progress, and build their path toward a future career.
